Regular People (Conceit)

- No.1 Lesson learnt by NKF: Don't ever, ever, ever, ever mess with my frigging company.

- Which newspaper has the balls to shoot down Mrs Goh's "$600,000 is peanuts" comments??? Sadly, not mine.

- Some people are saying we should still support and donate to charity. But I'm on the side of the over 4000 dudes and dudettes who cancelled their donations. I figure, since the NKF has OVER 30 YEARS' RESERVES, maybe sucking those reserves dry can make them feel more humble about their main objective.

- Don't mean to gloat, but I began doubting NKF the moment they made more TV shows to plead for our hard-earned cash. To invite the foreign artistes to sing for charity means to pay for their appearances. That is a lot of money to spend on bringing them in. Damn right I was suspicious.

- Why do Singaporeans always go overboard? What started off as a noble cause is ruined by one person who went overboard with his greed. Does he need to show off that he is rich enough to own a golden tap and eight Mercs? It's totally unnecessary.

For a multi-million dollar corporation to pay $600,000 +++ whatever bonuses to the CEO is really nothing - like what our dear Mrs Goh Chok Tong commented "peanuts" - but she forgot that NKF is a multi-million dollar CHARITABLE organization. Sad - I had always respected her for her enthusiasm and support for charity and I don't expect this type of comment from her....

Patient subsidies by NKF were actually less than their operation and HR (salary) expenditure. As charitable organisation, the amount of subsidies or help they can make is equivalent to sales that private businesses make. Why should the shareholders-the public be kept in the dark of the details?
Check out the TRANSPARENT report form NKF, USA. http://www.kidney.org/general/aboutNKF/pdf/annualreport04.pdf
If NKF in US can do it, why does NKF Singapore presume that such details is wasted on Singaporeans?
I'm utterly disappointed by Mrs Goh's remark. Shows great insensitivity towards the poor in Singapore. We are a nation, not a company! You cannot just put your poor citizens who is weaker in this monetary race, in permanent bottom ranking and ignore their fate!

Mr Durai made some grave judgement errors, and that reviewed some of his inner space - his thoughts and what he stood for. I think NKF should not just let it go by and say they support their MAN. The board, by now should have let go of Mr Durai and focus on damage control. They should have the courage to re-evaluate what in the world they are thinking all this while. Charity is charity. The earnings of a charitable orgn's CEO should not be pegged to a particular ratio as though it is a commercial venture. If this is how the board members are thinking ... then, they have lost track of the spirit of charity. They have gone too commercial and RICH. That is the nature of commercial sin.

Another thing from the saga is that the board members seem to be not in-tuned with what is really happening within the financial and strategic (I mean the thinking thoughts) plan of their CEO. What have they been up to?

As for Mrs GCT, I admire her husband as his words are mostly well-balanced. I almost did the same for her, until ... I know that she is the patron of NKF. But she should have reserved her comment until she has gotten back home and consulted Mr GCT. I mean, he is very experienced and really can make a difference here. Too bad, the now immortal phrase came out too fast .... giving a new twist to the meaning of peanuts...

I almost fell off my chair when I read that $600,000 is considered peanuts. If I remember my history lesson correctly, Marie Antionette of France, declared to the poverty-stricken common people in her country who clamoured for bread to "let them have cake" instead and was promptly executed. What a totally offensive statement to come out from a certain individual who ought to know better than to shoot her mouth off. Did she ever consider how many people even sniff at this figure after working themselves to the bone for a lifetime?

someone almost fell of the chair after hearing 600k is peanut - listen this - someone might die just because of this word. imagine the agony of a family who still need to pay $240 for treatment. I always repect Mr & Mrs Goh alot. Mr.GOH is the best person in Singapore-always been- but by the statement coming out from his wife - how does he feels about this and does he have the same thinking like her- money is like PEANUT TOO- Mr. Goh do you have anything to say on your Wife comments. Is it all the ministers, the wifes, CEO, organizations in S'pore thinks 600k is nothing. I don't have enough money to pay for my IVF baby prog. And yet I always contribute whenever is possible. Now what are we in your eyes?

In future pls don't use Peanut for money coming in for Charity purpose - it just hurts. I learned from papers that a family of 5 who earns less than 2000 still have to pay 240 for dialysis. Will there be any justice. Once word came out it is not likely to taken back. The damaged been done. And Mr Durai Sir pls just go.

Paper has stated the board of directors, I wonder are these people also drawing huge salaries like the CEO? Mayb most of our donations had already used up by them. V unfair to the donors.

For Mrs Goh $600,000 is considered Peanuts for her house hold. Singapore inc lives ON ! As a CEO of a charitable organizations should come from the heart not the back pocket.......

I think the NKF's Corp Comms should also resign. They have been cunningly crafting sympathy messages to reach out to dupe the public. Their main person Michelle Ang ... should be taken to task. I'd be curious to know how much money these people make. And what sort of bonuses they are getting.

Seriously, how do these people sleep at night, knowing that the money they're earning is procured through less than honest means.

Wah Lau $600K is peanuts!? Mrs GCT are U serious? Since it is peanuts, perhaps U may wish to give some PEANUTS to the needy in NKF (what about a basket of it, not more just merely a basket full of it). It is still not too late to do so, maybe this cld be your legacy to the NKF. As it takes two to TANGO, what about asking Mr Durai to tango along with you? One is good two are lagi better. These should make a lasting impact with NKF. What cld be a more perfect gift and better timing than now. Prove to us that you all CARE! Contribute your peanuts B4 U call it QUIT.
